Valentine’s Day isn’t just about candy hearts and cards. It’s also a powerful reminder that relationships matter.
When it comes to advocacy, real change happens when lawmakers know who we are, what we care about, and why our communities matter. It’s easier to move policy when there’s trust, connection, and an ongoing relationship behind the ask.
That’s why we’re inviting family leaders and disability rights advocates to take part in our annual Legislator Love Note Campaign.
Instead of leading with demands, this campaign focuses on connection. A short, heartfelt note to your legislator can go a long way in building goodwill, opening doors, and reminding them that families of children with disabilities are engaged, informed, and paying attention.
Love notes can:
- Thank legislators for past support
- Share a brief personal story
- Express hopes for the year ahead
- Reinforce that you want to work together
These messages don’t need to be long or complicated. What matters most is showing up as a real person, not just an issue.
This Valentine’s Day, help us flood inboxes and mailboxes with reminders that advocacy is rooted in relationships. When lawmakers feel connected to our community, they’re more likely to listen, respond, and act.
Join us in spreading a little love and laying the groundwork for meaningful change.
